Were They Wrong or Right?
namaskaram sadguru I just want to know the basic difference of the way of Shiva and the way of Buddha it's very easy to talk about Buddha's way because it's very logical it's quite simple actually and it's very long drawn out process generally the methods that Gama gave to people were always a question of a few lifetimes you can clearly see this today the Buddhists are always talking about this particularly the Tibet Buddhists who are the best known Buddhists in the world today for whatever political reasons they're always talking about a few lifetimes of work so if you have that kind of patience that you're willing to work for a few lifetimes gamas ways a very efficient very logical scientific stepbystep process that one can take because this is a path of awareness the significance of walking the path of awareness is there are Milestones on the way which tell you you come 1 mile 2 miles 10 miles it tells you where you are that is the most important aspect that is without too much trust or devotion you can still grow because you have a method to hang on to you just keep doing it keep doing it keep doing it it clearly shows you that you're progressing but with Shiva there is no such guarantee and he doesn't fix Milestones you don't know whether you're going forward or backward but you're going somewhere that's all you know the word Shiva sha means that which is not that which is is physical creation that which is not is that which is not physical that which is not where can it be in India or America or on this planet or in another galaxy where can it be it's everywhere so there is a dimensionless existence so we call it appropriately sha that means that which is not today modern scientists are saying that nearly 99% of the cosmos is empty but not that there is nothing there is something but it is not something because our idea of something is we should be able to perceive through five senses see right now what you can see and what you cannot see is this you can see my hand because it is stopping light anything that is not stopping light you don't see isn't it right now there is air here which you breathing which is most vital from your for your existence but you don't see it you don't see the air unless you live in delhi now if you look up in the sky you see the stars but stars are a small happening the real thing is the vast emptiness so this we refer to as she for that which is not today modern scientists are saying this vast space has a tremendous amount of energy but it is not any of the energies that are measurable by us like electromagnetic waves or weak nuclear energy or strong nuclear energy or electrical systems or microwaves none of these things it is none of the measurable energy but there is no denying it is tremendously [Music] powerful Gama went to every known Master of the time he was intellectually so brilliant and his longing so great if you went to a place what normally somebody would pick it up in years he would do it in weeks the eight types of sadis he achieved all eight of them but still he knew this is not fullness of Life still longing when nothing else worked he took to an extreme path which is called a samanas one of the most basic aspects of their life is they never ask for food just keep walking walking walking walking Gama took the path so severely that he didn't walk in the direction as to where food is he simply walked straight in the process he destroyed his body so badly his body became so weak he became all skin and bones because he did not go in search of food unless it came to him he never ate one day he came to the banks of Nana this is a small stream just about 2 ft flowing little swiftly he came he tried to cross halfway down he could not take another step he did not have the strength in his body there was a dead branch of a tree he held on to it we do not know how how long he stood there in his weakness in his inability to stand there holding on to this must have felt like a long time it might have been just a few minutes it may be a few hours we don't know but in his experience it was a long time he just hung there he has no strength to take the next step but he's not the kind to give up then suddenly he realized the problem was that he was is trying to realize not allowing that to take him he's trying to take that he's trying to realize something which is Limitless which is boundless then he became absent suddenly he had the strength to take those few steps across the river went and sat down under the Bodi tree he sat down and and decided I will sit here either I must become a part of it or I will die here I will not get up from this place he just sat down
