now someone may be listening right now and they find themselves in the middle of a discouraging season i may not know who you are or what your exact situation is but one thing i do know is that the bible in hebrews chapter 10 verse 23 to 25 says let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering for he who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful to his word and let us consider thoughtfully how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds not forsaking our meeting together as believers for worship and instruction as is the habit of some but encouraging one another and all the more faithfully as you see the day of christ's return approaching the bible tells us to encourage one another and that's what i would like to do today whatever it is you are going through leave it in god's hands the lord has the final say over your life and you need to hold on don't give up don't let go don't give in and don't be discouraged i pray that the holy spirit will block you from looking to the left and to the right so that your eyes can only look up to jesus christ romans 8 verse 37 says yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us you are more than a conqueror through jesus christ so keep believing that god will see you through keep believing that god will strengthen you don't be discouraged don't be defeated but stand stand on god's word and on god's promise because he has said i will never leave you nor forsake you one of the golden rules of christianity is that you should protect yourself at all times and when i say protect yourself i'm not talking about carrying a weapon i'm talking about what the bible says in ephesians 6 verse 11 as it reads put on the whole armor of god that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil putting on the whole armor of god is what i'm talking about when i say protect yourself at all times remaining under the divine covering of the blood of jesus christ is what i'm talking about when i say protect yourself at all times letting god's word be a lamp to your feet that's what i'm talking about when i say protect yourself at all times you see as believers we need to remain under the supernatural protection of jesus christ because we're in a fight and i don't know how long you've been saved or whether or not you were raised in the church but what i do know is that no one is exempt in this fight of faith the bible says the spirit wars against the flesh and the flesh wars against the spirit there is this internal battle going on the battle to do god's will versus your own will this is why it's a fight to pray every day it's a fight to read the word of god every day it's a fight to be a doer of the word and not just someone who hears the word it's a fight to walk by faith and not by sight you and i we're fighting against the many temptations of this world we're fighting at times against our own flesh our own bodies and of course we're fighting against the devil and so i'd like to remind you to protect yourself at all times don't let your guard down the bible in ephesians 6 verses 12 and 13 says for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against the rulers against the authorities against the cosmic powers over this present darkness against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places therefore take up the whole armor of god that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand firm there would be no need for you and i to take up the whole armor of god if we weren't in a fight it is the whole armor of god that helps us to fight all of the various evil entities from the kingdom of darkness it's the whole armor of god that allows us to withstand the onslaught of the enemy in life another passage of scripture i'd like to remind you of is first timothy 6 verse 12. it reads fight the good fight of the faith take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession and the presence of many witnesses you see walking by faith requires you to fight you're fighting what your natural eyes can see and you're choosing instead to trust god's word when you walk by faith you're fighting off the naysayers and discouragers in your life when you walk by faith you're fighting off the doubts and insecurity that creep into your mind and whisper that's not possible saints fight the good fight of faith one of the most remarkable things that jesus said while he was here on this earth can be found in john 15 verse 15. the bible reads no longer do i call you servants for a servant does not know what his master is doing but i have called you friends for all things that i heard from my father i have made known to you when i read this verse i think back to when i was a young man and i first heard the song what a friend we have in jesus it was one of those songs that lifted me up during a very discouraging season in my life allow me for a moment to just recite the lyrics to this uplifting song what a friend we have in jesus all our sins and griefs to bear and what a privilege to carry everything to god in prayer oh what peace we often forfeit oh what needless pain we bear all because we do not carry everything to god in prayer have we trials and temptations is there trouble anywhere we should never be discouraged take it to the lord in prayer can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share jesus knows our every weakness take it to the lord in prayer [Music] you
