Tony Hawk’s Life Lessons Men Learn Too Late In Life

big decisions in my life have always come easy and are made without hesitation it is easier for me to make a life-changing decision than to decide what to get for dessert Tony Hawk Tony Hawk is shown as a hero through his bravery with his ability to land some of the biggest tricks ever done in skateboarding history and through the way he has had to make huge life-changing decisions throughout his career and could have changed everything Tony Hawk paved the way for professional skateboarding and created a foundation dedicated to supporting underserved youth with skateboarding programs he talks about the feeling of creating in his field and shares his reason for choosing to live drug-free when your daughter asks you to be a fairy for her fifth birthday you better be a damn fairy I never got into skateboarding to be number one when I first started skateboarding was so small you could aspire to be rich and famous from it you didn't because you found something that spoke to you in this quote Hawk who even as a child had little patience for failure began skateboarding at age N9 he started entering competitions at age 11 and made an instant impression with his creativity and daring his parents were suppored of his new hobby and they later organized the California amateur skateboarding league and the national skateboarding Association to help provide legitimacy to the sport skateboarding teaches kids a lot about self-discipline I think skateboarding is hugely challenging it teaches you self-confidence self-motivation and it can be something that helps you throughout your life recognize where your talent lies work hard on it and when you reach the top of your profession don't forget your roots in this quote Tony Hawk speaks about his career during the 1980s and 90s he dominated skateboarding competitions he won 73 titles and was named the top vert skater every year from 1984 to 1996 he also invented dozens of moves including the Ali to Indie the gym plant the front side 540 Rodeo flip and the Saran wrap the biggest life lesson is the value of perseverance if I can stand up when I'm 80 I'll be happy to cruise around on a skateboard if I feel like my skills are fading I just won't do it publicly you might not make it to the top but if you are doing what you love there is much more happiness than there being rich or famous in this quote Hawk emphasizes the power of doing what you love and believe in yourself if you do what you love it is really hard that things at the end turn out well and you live a happy life I believe that people should take pride in what they do even if it's scorned or misunderstood by the public at large being different is awesome all of those who are different are more interesting than those who are clamoring for acceptance because they follow a path skate a STS not just about skating it's giving people life skills and hope for the future big decisions in my life have always come easy and are made without hesitation it is easier for me to make a life-changing decision than to decide what to get for dessert the irony about selling out is that they only call you a sell out when your stuff finally sells I've had products bearing my name since I was 14 but nobody was buying them then the biggest lesson I learned from my dad is to support children even if they are doing something that is unorthodox don't be afraid of girls that is my biggest regret knowing what I know about girls I should have gone for it guys are such wimps never get cocky about your professional success because the good luck that got you there can turn bad fast once you find your passion run with it ignore what peers or career counselors say whatever you pick as long as you truly love it get really good at it that means spending a lot of time at it become a mentor encourage people who will inevitably rise to replace you I love the fact that there is now a skat Park in almost every City but it will always have a rebellious underground Edge to it because it is based on individuality if you have a game with your name on it you have to learn how to play My definition of success is doing what you love I feel many people do things because they feel they have to and are hesitant to risk following their passion I learn to ignore haters early early on it's hard hard to skate in front of an audience a camera doesn't make fun of you if you fall and it gives you a second chance I think if I were to tell my 21-year-old self anything I'd say to keep control of my brand I surround myself with a group of people that I feel have the same sense of values and come from the same culture I love the adrenaline of taking risks skateboarding is an art form a lifestyle and a sport action sport would be the least offensive categorization I started skateboarding at around age 10 and enjoyed the artistic aspect of it as much as the sporting aspect so for me it was more of an art form and a lifestyle for those that say I endangered my child it's more likely that you will fall while walking on the sidewalk than I will while skating with my daughter the least I can do is put it out there in the universe a lot of people hide their quirks when they are first getting to know a person I never imagined getting to do what I love for a living and having so many people appreciated there was only one other skater in my high school and we were the lowest form of cool I played team sports but I never felt like I fitted in that well so this allowed me to be part of a community but to do it in my own way I'm proud that I was able to use my recognition to maybe raise the awareness of skateboarding and help grow it and to help fund public skate parks that's the Legacy just trying to grow the entire sport I won't quick skating until I am physically unable I was playing violin at the same time when I first started skating my music teacher at school wanted me at all of these School concerts on the weekends but I was off in Florida at skate events and so he told me that I had to choose one or the other thank you for watching this video showcasing the Brilliance and wisdom of Tony Hawk Tony Hawk's insights and
